comprehensive, easy to use. One of the best cookbook I have ever used.
I love it for its old fashioned tone, but it's a classic, almost reference-like, book on Italian cooking. I don't often use its recipes, but I love reading about how to clean squid and calf's brains. And if I ever need a recipe for lettuce soup or jellied eels, I know where to go.
Some of this I really liked, some of it lost something in translation. There are some great authentic recipes in here, there are also some I'm pretty sure aren't going to work as written. Some of the names of ingredients are just not translated right. Still its very pretty and there were several ...
