The Spellman Files is about a wacky PI family, with the narrator being Izzy, their daughter. The beginning of the book has a bit of background on Izzy as a child and her antics, all which I found rather amusing. The book started out on a really good humor foot, however, I felt it fizzled pretty earl...
A very solid three-star read.Isabel Spellman hasn't—by any conventional standards—made a success of her life. Like most people, she's been thoroughly tangled up in her family's issues; unlike most people, her family are (mostly) private investigators and have given Izzy plenty of extra skills she ca...
The Spellman's are the ultimate dysfunctional family. Al and Livvy Spellman are PIs and there children have gotten mixed into the mesh. The story is told through the eyes of Isabel - who relates the family history to help police understand the case of her missing sister. This book took a little wh...

This was a very strange novel. It didn't read like a normal mystery or crime/thriller. It was sort of just a story about this suspicious family. They keep track of each other like no other family and sign contracts for everything. It's a little strange, but I laughed.
When I bought this book I thought it would be about the mystery aspect of the last case Izzy has to solve before quitting the family business, and finding her little sister. I expected a whodunnit mystery with a bit of romance and was very eager to read 'The Spellman Files'. Sadly, this wasn't the c...
