I think it makes the whole thing, draws together the creepy, mysterious story with the confident, vibrant art to make a world that I got sucked into and didn't want to put down. Cool idea, but I'm kinda just sad it's not a novel. The story-per-book is so limited, and the art is kinda ugly, although it does suit the story. Will read on; definitely curious where things will go, but the medium just feels frustrating. Could see this making a good movie or TV show though.
