Spoilers follow, though in practice most people probably have a basic idea of the plot, and I'm not spoiling specifics, really. So if you are aware of what this book is about, you are probably fine to read this. This was not nearly as frightening as I had hoped. The implications were certainly u...
I thought this story was good, but strangely enough the movie with Nicole Kidman was far better. For once the movie fleshed out the story more than the original book, plus the movie had a much better, more satisfactory ending (although maybe not as disturbing).

“That’s what she was, Joanna felt suddenly. That’s what they all were, all the Stepford wives: actresses in commercials, pleased with detergents and floor wax, with cleansers, shampoos, and deodorants. Too bad I didn't share the same enthusiasm. I think it would have been better if we were exposed to what the men had been doi...

Basically, this was about a bunch of plastic Barbies and Kens, living in their plastic houses, nodding politely their hollow plastic heads while twaddling some blunt-robotic-unint...
I read this a million years ago but I remember it so clearly. It was a sticky Ohio summer day and I was curled up in my grandmother's living room. My grandmother kept suggesting that I go outside instead of wearing my eyes out, but I was mesmerized by the Stepford Wives. I think it had a profound ef...
True story: there was a time when, for a few months, one of the online places I used to visit somewhat compulsively was the "Stepford Wives" thread at a certain conspiratainer's online message board. After finding my way there through Google search engine results, I was confused. "They can't be seri...
