What happens when Cinderella marries? The afterwards is never mentioned. What if her sisters decided to take revenge? Sleeping Beauty and Snow White join forces when Cinderella's husband is kidnapped. It's a fun read, nothing to rock the world too hard but fun all the same.

This is very light, very enjoyable fantasy. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but it reminded me of Terry Pratchett and Bill Willingham and Piers Anthony (not the pervy Piers Anthony, which is to say, 90% of his output, but the guy who occasionally writes about female characters without ...

Rating: 3.5 of 5 A fast-paced, action-packed fantasy that features three well-known fairy tale princesses. However, in The Stepsister Scheme, Danielle (Cinderella), Talia (Sleeping Beauty) and Snow (Snow White) don't need saved; they do the fighting and rescuing. I enjoyed the world-building, and ...

The Stepsister Scheme by Jim C. Hines is a fresh spin on what happens after the happily ever after of various Grimm fairy tales. In a fantasy world where Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are real princesses but the stories are mostly rumors, Cinderella (whose real name is Danielle) has onl...

I should have known better with this one - fractured fairy tales are not my thing (I might still be scarred from reading "Wicked" in college.) I like Jim Hines though, so I wanted to give it a chance.I did enjoy the fact that the fairy tales in the book are more of the traditional type than Disney...

I enjoyed this one very much. Kick-ass princesses, and nothing is really "Happily Ever After." Danielle's (Cinderella's) stepsisters have abducted the prince, so Danielle gets pulled into her mother-in-law's circle of crusading princesses - Talia, the harsh and still angry at all fairies Sleeping Be...

Charlie's angels meets Disney princesses. Super cool idea. If only the execution were up to it. When I'm bored in the lead up to the end fight, that's a problem.

This reader's personal opinion, ©2012, all rights reserved.* One of the rare times I picked a book by its cover (had not read anything by author before); but, how can you pass this by on the SF/fantasy shelf? Excellent story fulfills expectations of plot synopsis shown at this site. Published well ...

I started out hating this - the idea that to be strong women have to be fighters (in the vein of patriarchy), that the one princess with an attitude has a darker complexion than the others, that the Cinderella - Danielle- can't distinguish between animals who help her and those she kills to wear and...

Really enjoyed this. Not overly deep, but darker than you might expect, and overall very fun and charming. These are definitely not your Disney princesses.
