Everyone in Josie Cirillo's little North Carolina home town knows her. After all, Josie's father, Marco Cirillo is the man who turned the sleepy little town into a popular winter resort, securing his own and all of the residents' economies. Sarah Addison Allen has done it yet again! She's created a fantastic read that kept me engaged until the very end. After falling completely in love with Garden Spells, I thought I would read other works by Allen. She has not failed me yet. Sugar Queen is refreshing, fun and a great romantic read where all roads converge at once for a final warm embrace.

I enjoyed this book. A nice escape. The author tries a little too hard at times to emulate Alice Hoffman.

Sweet and tender book about family, bonds, desire and becoming your own person.A gentle love story about loving yourself, loving others and accepting what those that love you can do to you. It's almost magical-realism the way that Addison weaves the story with her prose and images.

I was on a roll of four star books for awhile there, but I guess it had to end sometime. There's nothing actually wrong with this book, its a reasonably charming small romance with some hints of southern gothic and magical realism. A young woman lives a dull life waiting on her elderly mother, the...
