It is really difficult to write a review for this book because there was so much going on, so many events it's hard to really focus on one aspect. What I will say is that this book is an instant classic for me, and I've already recommended to people. You can tell that so much thought, effort, and har...

The book certainly kept my interest, but it was way too dramatic and Fiona was such a perfect character. She's beautiful, strong, feisty, has great ideas that seem to be too good and work out too well, and everyone falls in love with her. She's likable enough, I guess, but I was just rolling my eyes...

If anything this is a story of survival and it is one engrossing story to boot. Fiona endures so much in the book that you wonder how she could possibly keep going, but she does. I absolutely loved the characters in the book and the way in which the story was written. Fiona, Joe, Nicholas, Seamus, U...

"Funny, 'ow you can 'old a jewel in your 'and, and toss it away, and not even know what you 'ad until it's gone." ~Joe~ This seems to be the theme of Fiona and Joe's life. They are living in the area and times of Jack the Ripper and this all ties well into the story. The story starts out with Fion...

The ONLY reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the constant missed opportunities with Fiona and Joe. It's like a cliche 90's chick flick, which felt frustrating and contrived. The writing is top notch and you can easily fall into the story, not realizing how much time has passed....

I can't believe how much I love Jennifer Donnelly's writing. I thought her young adult books were excellent, but this book is phenomenal! You can't help but fall in love with the characters except for the jackass, Joe! I can't wait to continue on with this series...It is just fun!ETA(3/10/11): I fin...
