Advertising this as a short story is just retarded. The "story" starts at 19% and ends at 57%. It has a beginning, but no middle or end. It's always satisfying to see Hadrian and Royce, but please. This is half a prologue.

4.5 / 5Up until reading this story I had not had the chance to read anything from Michael Sullivan though I had heard and read quite a lot on many book-review blogs about the indie author (up to that point) that was actually better than many published ones. So colour me intrigued and for a long time...

A short story providing us with some of the back story for Royce and Hadrian, from their early days together. Funny, yet somewhat cynical, not surprising if you are familiar with Royce's prejudices and Hadrian's naivety.

A fun read about the early years of Royce and Harian. For anyone dithering about whether to read the Riyria series or not, this is a good introduction to the style - easy to read, nothing too complicated, just a good romp. And very funny.
Housewife Blues and Chihuahua Stories
SynopsisEleven years before they were framed for the murder of a king, before even assuming the title of Riyria, Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater were practically strangers. Unlikely associates, this cynical thief and idealist swordsman, were just learning how to work together as a team. In this...
