Never got around to do a review of this book, so I decided to re-read it and amend this oversight. After failing his entrance exams into the military academy and the death of his grandfather, Miles Vorkosigan, 17 years old, handicapped by brittle bones, suffering from (more or less) latent depress...

This is an enjoyable science fiction caper. As a rule I don’t like sci-fi, so if it sounds like the sort of book that will push the right buttons for you, you should expect to like it better. Warrior’s Apprentice seemed like a good choice for me because its focus is on the characters rather than the...

~~Moved from GR~~ The Warrior's Apprentice (Vorkosigan Saga #3, Miles Vorkosigan #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold Wow, this book was a wild ride. Space pirates, royal princes, political intrigue...it's all here. Better yet, for me at least, the story is full of enjoyable, funny and essentially off-the-...

This is the book where I fell in love with the Vorkosigan Saga. It's rare I can say I fall in love with a character in a book, but I fell hard for Miles Vorkosigan, which is why this book gets five stars. Not because it's mind-expanding or has amazing prose--but because I loved the character so much...

Just reread this one after reading the two Cordelia books...and like this one so much better than I did before! Miles issuch a result of his parentage...ingenuity and honor all wrapped into a manic package!

My favourite Mondegreen growing up was almost all the lyrics of this one Fleetwood Mac song. Can you hear me calling, Ultraman? I'd sing, rocking the legwarmers and just generally being the most awesome woman on the planet. Then the 90's happened and legwarmers stopped being practical ways to buff...

I have no idea how to do reading status updates on this thing (or even if you can), so here's me so far: About a third of the way through. I like Miles, he's sassy and all the self-pity is well tempered by his machinating. I'm really not sure what the long-term strategy is with hiring all these ...

Following the resounding success of my Locus Quest, I faced a dilemma: which reading list to follow it up with? Variety is the spice of life, so I’ve decided to diversify and pursue six different lists simultaneously. This book falls into my FINISHING THE SERIES! list.I loves me a good series! But I...
