Prior to this, I have never read anything by Terry Pratchett. I had wanted to for years, but kept putting it off on account of wanting to read them "in sequence." Perchance this book, and its sequel 'A Hat Full Of Sky' landed in my hands, and so I read them. Having done so, I can say that, as others...
My full review was posted at SFF Book Review. What a fun Discworld adventure. For all of those who have had enough of crazy Ankh-Morpork for a while and want to enjoy the country air, so to speak, Tiffany Aching's first adventure is just the thing.Living on the Chalk, herding sheep and making excelle...
This is another Discworld YA novel and it's fair to say I only read it because it was next on the list and I wanted to have read them all. Which is not to say it's bad but it's aimed at a younger audience and probably a female one. The protagonist is Tiffany Aching, a 9-year-old girl from The Chalk ...
I’ve read this book perhaps 4 times over the past few years. It makes me laugh, a lot, out loud. My man is terribly tired of me reading bits out to him while giggling, especially when I am trying to do a Feegle accent. Terrible, terrible. Tiffany is so easy to connect with, and root for. The mix of ...
Tiffany is an interesting heroine. Heroes/heroines in YA books always seem to be under prepared. To me, Tiffany seemed especially unprepared. I’ve tried Pratchett before and didn’t ever fall in love with his books. The emotional heart seemed to be missin...
I listened to this on audiobook and smiled like an idiot the whole time. It's a typical age old story-- but it is executed perfectly. Funny and smart, with characters as endearing as they are ridiculous. Recommended for older children ya and adults.

I am a bit hesitant about the four star rating since the first 100 pages seemed almost determined to thwart my interest. In the end, though, I want to grow up to be Tiffany Aching. Excuse me while I run out to buy Hat Full of Sky.
