A very cute little book. Pretty predictable but Minime absolutely devoured it! The first full-sized novel she ever read and I can see why it hooked her. It has all the elements to make kids love it.
This book is promising in the first few chapters, with contrasting main protagonists who are twin brother sister; bookworm imaginary girl and realistic and cynical boy, both of them do their best in providing us conservative and more realist view of fairytale, which very interesting. However, after ...
Originally posted at Gypsy ReviewsI was pleasantly surprised to find that this book was actually aimed at Middle Graders because it seemed so much more than I would have expected for a Middle Grade novel. 2.5 stars for me!! I found the book to be kind of childish (I know its a kids book but still) The story was such a good idea, I mean, come on, falling into storyland sounds awesome but The Wishing Spell fell kind of flat. I found myself rolling my eyes at alot of the parts and thinking Ugh cant some...

I guess I misunderstood the age group this was written for, but regardless, nothing can change the fact that it's too simplistic and entirely lacking in charm for a book based on fairy tales. Colfer's grandmother should have written this book. Her quote in the dedication was very charming.
Uninspiring. Neat idea. But no surprises. No great humor. The characters were flat, even the twins and esp. the fairy tale characters. Cookie cut-out. Bummer. I was quite looking forward to this one.
This review can also be found on my blog.I'm a Gleek. Let's just throw that out there right now. That being said, I'm normally a little hesitant on picking up books written by actors/musicians. I feel like sometimes they piggyback on the success of their TV show, movies, or music, and the books end ...
This is about what you'd expect from any middle school, fairy-tale inspired book in this day and age. It was well-written, if not overdone. The humour was cute and the flow was pretty predictable, but nice.I enjoyed the book, but kept in mind this is meant for younger middle schoolers that want to r...
