What I love most about this story is how it is truly terrifying, but also totally cheerful. I can see why Dahl is my daughter’s very favorite author of all time. She is a sunny, happy little child with a profound morbid streak. Case in point – she repeatedly checks out the same book on torture fr...

It's been a very long time since I read this...it was fun to share with my daughter who seemed to love it as much as I did. This is a wonderful adventure. I personally loved the Grand High Witch. Her rant was spectacular! My favorite character by far is Grandmamma. She brings a sense of security, ev...

I just re-read this one. The story really warrants four stars but that ending begs for one more. Brong five years smarter changes nothing when it comes to this man, I suppose.

This book was a lot of fun! I love that it took a ‘fear’ of some kids and made it real thing. Kids can be suspicious and if you pair that with an overactive imagination, you get get kids who think the worst about adults. In this case it’s women who are witches. Our unnamed narrator thinks his grandm...

The trouble with this movie, is that we are supposed to cheer for the wrong side. The premise, for those who haven’t read or seen it, is that the witches have a practically foolproof plan to turn all the children of the UK into mice. I mean, what’s not to like? You may say I shouldn’t have been watc...

This book was a pleasant surprise to me. I had formed an opinion from somewhere that Roald Dahl wrote in more of a psychedelic style, like The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury, than this book was written. That kept me from looking further into any of his works until I picked up this book for a quick, ...
