This book is absolutely horrible. I wanted to quit so many times. The characters are not only unbelievable, but this plot doesn't really make much sense. It seemed like to much had happened or was happening in the background for it to ever make sense. This book really violates what makes supernatural...

True story I used to love Anne Rice. I have all of her books up till the Jesus ones. My question now is Anne what happened I couldn't even finish. A sad sad day in fiction. The queen of agnst and monsters has fallen from her throne.

[Stopped reading for good]: I don't stop reading a book very often, but I hated the writing, especially the inconsistency of the narrator's tone. Hated. I didn't expect to dislike it so much.

Finished this last night. Simply amazing. I enjoyed her vampire series and thought they were wonderful, but this outshines them by far!I want more! I want more of Reuben, Laura, Stuart, and Jim. I especially want more of Felix, Margon and Thibault. As much as I would like more about Reuben, I wo...

Maybe that's it -- I was so prepared for the worst that I was actually su...

Almost gave this 3 stars, because the last 100 pages were filled with dialogue and lengthy philosophical discourses and may not have added the depth Rice intended; I appreciated the thought processes, but felt they were discordent with the faster paced action sequences that form the bulk of the book...

3.5 to 4 starsI am jumping back and forth with loving this book and not really liking it. It took me a lot longer than normal to get through this book than it would normally take me. It is the first Anne Rice book I have read.

I couldn't get through this book. It was too much I-don't-give-a-shit and oh-god-why-do-these-characters-breathe?I've stopped and I plan to never continue; something Anne Rice should have considered as well.
