I'm next on the list at the library for the audio book of this one.
Downloading the audio now! How far are you, Carol?
Ok, I've started.
This is just from the 2nd chapter but I'm going to put it behind a spoiler tag just in case.

I was surprised that no one immediately thought (hide spoiler) that Jenny had been raped by the dude she was about to shoot. Also, who the hell's baby is that?? And sewing up her vagina? Gotta be a religious thing behind that.(show spoiler)
Ok, I'm in the "want to punch Jeffrey in the face" club for this one. His thoughts on Sara walking into his office wearing a dress that looks like a long t-shirt, sneakers with no socks, and her hair messy: "Sometimes this was sexy, sometimes it made her look sloppy, like she was more interested in being a doctor than being a woman."

Yep, kick in the nads for you, Jeffrey.

I knew what the mutilation was only because I had read another book that dealt entirely with that...*cringe*

There are so many instances of this kind of thought process. I don't understand how he can think with his little brain so often and still function. The degree to which Karin Slaughter makes him come off as such a sexist pig made me wonder if her name is a pseudonym. Why I think a guy would write that way... no idea.

Was this around the same point as his comment about her mouth? (hide spoiler) "One of the sexiest things about Sara was her mouth. Too bad she didn't know when to shut up and use it for something more helpful to Jeffrey than talking(show spoiler)
Kick to the nuts with steel toed shoes

Yep. I feel like she wants Jeff to be a sympathetic character but it's impossible since he's such a selfish pig.

Was the book you read Warrior Marks? I read that one and the story of little Mary - a five year old girl - still sticks with me.

I can't remember the title, although I can picture the book itself. I read it when I was in High School. it was one of my aunts college books. Took place in Africa. Paperback, yellow..... not helpful I know. LOL
I just finished this book and seriously, horrifying.

That wouldn't have been Warrior Marks. WM was by Alice Walker and another woman whose name is on the tip of my tongue... Pratima Parsomething. Gonna go look it up because it's driving me crazy now.

Pratibha Parmar.

It was a fantastic book.

Are you going to read the next in the series?
Reply to post #14 (show post):

I think eventually I read the next in the series but for the moment I need a break from these characters. I was going to read Firework by Melissa Brayden next since that should only take a day or two and then see what you were starting for the Mystery
