Starting October 2016, if anyone is interested I thought we could do some buddy reads of freely available public domain books. Only the categories/genres and books you are interested in.

Feel free to suggest categories/genres and book titles in this group, on a tagged with "Project Gutenberg Buddy Reads" post or on the reading lists. Whatever works for you.

I'll try to keep a summary here and in posts (and keep reading lists updated).
As a starting point, just based on what I usually see on the feed, I've created categories for Classics, Horror, Mystery and Science Fiction/Fantasy.

Please do suggest others of interest.
That is an interesting idea. I joined, though I don't know if I'm going to participate in many of these reads. A few titles I find intriguing, and they are free too - an additional bonus.
I think the idea is to suggest a read if it's freely available and see if anyone else wants to join in or join others' suggestions rather than schedule it as a monthly thing you plan to do.
I love this idea. I have an entire shelf of classic books from when I had lofty dreams of being an English major.

I plan on making a monthly post about the possible reads.

I actually don't anticipate getting so many people interested and so many books suggested that it would come down to "fighting" about which book becomes book of the month. If three people want to read one book and four people another -- read one or both regardless of what was that month's book.

Very rule-free and loose beyond tagging so you can see and talk with the others reading the same book.

I want more buddy reads (and to explore Gutenberg more because new ones are added all the time). Having free books for the buddy read seemed like could get more participants.

October has so many readathons, BINGOs and other bookish challenges it seemed a logical start time as books could be used for more than one purpose.
I'm back. I left booklikes last winter through spring because booklikes staff appeared to have abandoned the site.
Welcome back, Debbie.
