I read the Connie Willis novel To Say Nothing of the Dog. The novel references "Three men in a Boat" extensively, and I was (to say the least) confused. I've heard great things about the book, and it was free for my Kindle, so I gave it a try! This book suffers a bit from a split personality - it v...

Three young Englishmen decide to spend a fortnight boating on the Thames for their health.A classic of English humor; I'm quite dismayed that I hadn't discovered it before now! It's one of the funniest books I've read in a long time (and I've read many funny books). I found myself laughing out loud ...

It's not bad, really. Jerome is both funny and thoughtful, occasionally even poetic. Three Men in a Boat was originally intended to be a travelogue of the Thames boating scene of the day, but the humor (excuse me, humour) overtook the bits of history and commentary on local life. The travelogue secti...

Three Men in a Boat is one of those books which have become legend. It is quoted as a must-read for all humour afficionados: it is touted as one of the funniest books in the English language. So I am a little bit ashamed that I waited so long to read it!Then, you may ask, why only the three stars?...

Read at some point in my late teens (1999?) and reread at the end of a wet British summer in 2011. The English original version is way better for getting Jerome's devastating sense of humour. And Montmorency's joyrides.I love how this book is irresistibly lapidary in its descriptions of the towns al...

A good old witty , hilarious ,easy read book....just don't read in a place where you have people around, you might be looked as a lunatic laughing out loud. The way in which the book is written is as naive as a children story book and it doesn't preaches any philosophy of any kind. It is just a plai...

I like the humour of the book, but I wasn't particularly fond of the subject, or the way of writting.

A light-hearted and mildly amusing tale of 3 friends (to say nothing of the dog!) and their adventures on a 2-week holiday on the river Thames. Quite funny in places with plenty of "this reminds me of a time when..." stories.
