I picked up the audio version of this a few weeks ago during an audible sale, figuring I could listen to it during the Christmas/Summer break. Didn't quite make it last that long... This book really does live up to the hype, I put it on while I did some housework, and just couldn't turn it off wh...

This was THE WORST! It could've been more interesting if Maas had focussed on telling us about the weird murders happening instead of how much Cellophane loves petting puppies and wearing dresses. She's also the worst assassin ever: clumsy, stupid, loud, impulsive. It was RIDICULOUS to read.

This reader's personal opinion, ©2015, all rights reserved, not to be quoted, clipped or used in any way by Google Play, amazon.com or other commercial booksellers* I liked this one well enough. Started off really liking it. Mostly in a good way, it reminded me of a whole lot of other fantasy boo...

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. Finally, Cel has redeemed herself. I was about to give up on this series, but it finally lived up to my expectations of what an assassin should act like. Cel is 18 and has endured a year at the slave mines, a feat in and of itself. She's placed in a contest to become t...

This is Not A Review. Well, it sort of is, but I felt like almost everything that there is to say about this book has been said already, and much better reviews than I could write have been written, since, I think, mine would just be reactionary to the largely negative word of mouth I had lobbed at ...

She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake: she got caught.Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represe...

This review was originally posted on Bookish Things & MoreReviewOne question I've been asking myself over and over: why in the hell did I not start this series earlier????  I freaking loved it.I love all the magic, or lack there of, mystery and relationships in this book.  Celaena is trying to fin h...

I don't like to review books until I finish a series so I can judge everything as a whole. Part of that is due to books like this. Did I find this outstanding? No. Celaena kind of made me want to slam my head into a wall. And stereotypical love triangle? No thanks. Don't even get me started on Doria...

***Note: this review assumes that you've read the book.*** One-sentence summary: readers are promised an assassin and world-building, but get a dull-witted heroine, romance without geopolitics, and clunky writing. What happened. Hmm, not much. It is just me, or is the lack of any sort of economi...
