The first of the Sam Vimes stories I've read. It was enjoyable overall, but I'm thinking I should have started at the beginning with Guards! Guards! to get a better feel for the city watch characters.

Some prejudices go back a long way, boiling just under the surface even when the groups involved are living in a sort of truce. And sometimes all it takes is one act to bring it all back up again.Koom Valley. Did the dwarves ambush the trolls? Trolls ambush dwarves? Does it matter anymore - its beco...

I liked it, but my expectations were pretty high after Going Postal, and this one was a lot slower. I had a bit of a hard time getting through it.

This one's quite dark, and there are all sorts of darkness. Some are dispelled by light, some by truth and some by sheer force of will. Sam Vimes reads a book to his sone every night at 6pm sharp. This one almost brought me to tears. Sam Vimes of the City Watch novels is my favorite Pratchett characters, and Thud! brings him to the very edge of himself. Genius.

Sam Mumm, Leiter der Stadtwache, möchte das natürlich unbedingt verhindern.Aww, ich fand sie alle so, so toll! Sam Mumm, seine Frau Sybil, den kleinen Sam und wie S...

Reading is a bit off for me right now, so that's probably flavored this read but this was not one of my favorite Pratchett's - a bit too much of an agenda. There were a number of funny moments though, and I always enjoy Vimes.
