I'm not typically an adventure/action fan, but I saw the movie and really liked that, so, of course, I had to try the book. But as I said I'm not an action fan and I have a harder time reading action than watching it so I probably should have known how this would go. Just wasn't for me.
As I am listening to books 4 & 5 of KMM's Highlander series the time travel brought this book to mind so started reading....wanted something a bit less romancey and more action then what I have been reading
In top form on the whole, though not nearly as great as the Jurassic Park books. It was still a considerable page-burner, however. What weak bits existed were easily ignored in favor of the abounding upsides of the book. The medieval world was so fascinating to read about with all its rich descriptio...
Overall I enjoy Crichton's books (aside from the AWFUL State of Fear) because he entertains us with a good story. While his writing is never complex, it is enjoyable. This is another one of those types of books, except this one had science AND historical fiction, both which I thoroughly enjoy. A goo...
I listened to it in the car on the way home from Florida to MA. It got bogged down in description and details. It wasn't bad as company for the long ride, though, since it was a no-brainer kind of book. It just occupied the moment and didn't require much thought.
This was soooo not what I wanted it to be.I have to say that I am not one for the medieval time periods or period-pieces persay, but this one seriously really was agony for me to read!I hated the scientific technology talk that he boasted about for the first 200 pages and then after there FINALLY we...

One of my coworkers, Ed, also read the book and enjoyed it. However, he also saw Timeline the Movie and h...
It was a bit slow at first, but I quickly found myself immersed to the point of being unable to put it down. I also found that once again, never judge a book by it's movie.
Another one I picked up at a garage sale. This one I will post on BookMooch.com, but I doubt it will get mooched soon as there are 144 other copies available. Eventually, I may get around to reading this (I've already seen the movie unfortunately). Not in any big hurry to read it, though.
