I liked the children in this book, the dogs, and the female characters the most. Helen and Munroe's sister Sophia were engaging. Hoyt moved the overall mystery story forward abit but it was mostly teasers. I really like all of her books and I particularly like how smoothly she tells two stories at ...
4.5 starts - Great book. Loved the relationship between Alistair and Helen. I felt so sorry for Alistair with his horrible scarring, missing eye and missing fingers. And then Helen being able to look beyond all that to the man himself and being physically attracted to him was wonderful. I'm plan...
Much better than I'd thought it would be :)I don't have time to do a big in-depth review right now but a few points:What worked for me:* This time "tortured hero" really did mean tortured hero -- Sir Alistair had been tortured by natives in America, having lost a couple fingers, an eye, and being so...
As the title suggests, this is a sort of re-telling of the Beauty & the Beast fairytale.Helen Fitzwilliam is the Beauty and Alistair Munroe is the Beast. They fall in love despite Alistair's scars and Helen's past as a "kept woman" with two children.Alistair was the only non-soldier of the four sold...
Lovers of Beauty and the Beast tale, will certainly love this exceptional romance. Helen, former mistress of the Duke of Listair, has decided to leave her long-time protector taking their children away with her. But knowing how reluctant the duke is at being deprived of 'things' he believes he owns ...
Based on several mentions that I saw on the internet, I picked To Beguile a Beast. Bad choice. I hope this book is not representative of historical romance. Where to begin? I just couldn't get with the plot. The heroine was the mistress of a Duke, Ms. Fitzwilliam, that decided to run away with her (...
On the run from her former protector and the father of her illegitimate children, Abigail and Jami, Helen Fitzwilliam (born Carter) changes her name to Halifax and takes on a housekeeper's job on a remote Scottish castle, owned by Alistair Munroe, who was involved in the battle of Spinner's Falls as...
I have read all of Elizabeth Hoyt's books and I think this is my favorite one of all! I have been looking forward to this one since Helen and Alastair were introduced in the last book. Generally, I don't tend to read books revolving around former mistresses and children, but this one was different...
I loved it, it hooked me in and didn't let go until the very last page. Although, I was a little disappointed it didn't focus a little more on the traitor like the other books and Alistair trauma with living with his scars, it did show him moving on and accepting himself and Helen.
