Nelle Harper was born in Monroeville and Harper Lee is her pen name. She got enrollment at Monroe County High School and during her education, she developed a strong interest in English Literature. She completed her graduation in 1944 from high school and then attend Huntington College in Montgomery for almost one year. She studied law at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa for several years. She wrote a newspaper for the university, but unable to complete her degree.

In the novel, the Lee uses unforgettable characters to explore racism and the civil rights in the isolated Southern United States of the 1930s. The story revolves around a father, Atticus Finch, who is an attorney and trying to prove the innocence of a black man accused of rape. The story is also about Boo Radley, a strange neighbor who saves a scout and her brother from a killer.
The characters of this novel are inspired by the childhood of Lee, such as the Scout of the novel is the daughter of a respected attorney and the friend of a scout is inspired by Truman Capote who is a childhood friend of Lee. Everything in the novel is based on the true events and stories; therefore, the novel got huge success and it is still alive in the current era as well.
