Quite enjoyed this: it was fun seeing these two people abroad and I liked how enthusiastic they were about almost everything (ok, except Timbuktu). There's a lot packed in here, travel, logistics, big life choices, and a whole lot of love, too. They're quite honest about how much they drove each oth...
A must-read for anyone planning to travel for a long time, especially youngsters.Although the book is thick, it moves along very quickly. The stories are supplemented by charming sketchy illustrations by Mr. Weinberg, and Scieszka's voice is light but descriptive. They also do a lot of moving around...
This travelogue/memoir could be a lot more interesting and insightful than it is. The narrative is more engaging once they get to Mali, but that is more than halfway into the book.
