The last surviving city on Earth. The population is being slowly dwindled by the T-Cell Clone virus, a virus that evolved out of a mutated H.I.V. vaccination that is activated by touch. Evean James is a C.D.C. worker responsible for extracting new virus victims from the Live City to the the Dead City and for scouring the apartment buildings and apartments within the Dead City for its dead victims and disposing of their bodies. He lives a lonely guilt ridden existence. Hope comes when he has a chance meeting with Ada Green, a childhood friend who has now grown into a beautiful woman. They rekindle their friendship and struggle to develop an intimate relationship in a failing society with inconsistent and oppressive legislation where a mere touch could result in death.
