I liked this a lot more than I liked the Lioness Quartet. The writing is better and the subject matter is much more complex. Pierce has an annoying habit of writing out a characters subtext and telling and not showing. I swear if I had to read another sentence talking about how quiet and observant ...

Like all teenage girls, Aly, daughter of Alanna and George, is stubborn and fights with her mother. Only this time Aly decides to leave on a short adventure to give her parents time to be alone after their year-long separation. Unfortunately for Aly, she is taken prisoner by pirates and sold into ...

Having been a fan of Tamora Pierce's work for pretty much a third of my life, I am amazed it took me until now to get around to reading Trickster's Choice. Because once I started, and despite a few hitches (Aly seems a little too competent and levelheaded for your typical sixteen-year old girl -- he...

I’d heard good things about this book and its sequel, so despite not having read any Tamora Pierce for years, I decided to give it a try. I liked seeing a different view of the familiar old characters and Aly herself is marvellous. I never was a huge Alanna fan, so it was nice to hear Aly herself ar...

Trickster's ChoiceTrickster's Queen - Tamora PierceOne story, two books. These are also actually a follow-up to "The Song of the Lioness" quartet, which I haven't read. They are about the daughter of the heroine of those novels, so these do stand alone - but on the other hand, I felt that I was proba...

Not a bad book, but it pales in comparison to the rest of her works.

The story of Alanna's daughter, Aly. She is kidnapped by pirates and sold as a slave to a wealthy family... of course she quickly proceedes to save their life and thus gains the trust of the family. It's nice to read about Tortal again, even if this book is not as good as neither "Alanna" nor "Prote...

Aly is Alanna's feisty young daughter. She is incredibly annoying, so much so that I never finished the first chapter. Perhaps the writing style drastically changes after that, but I doubt it. Pierce seems too enamored of the Mary-Sue style to bother with anything else.
