TRUFBA is the shortened name for “TRUoc’s Fair BAsketball,” which is a game of basketball that is played according to the fair rules invented by Truoc Duong. These rules are fully described in this book. TRUFBA is also an English acronym for “The Rewarding Untouchable Fair BAsketball.” The primary objective of TRUFBA is to make the game of basketball rewarding, safe, and fair to all basketball lovers regardless of their size, height, and physical strength. In fact, TRUFBA is the first and only sport in the world that seriously incorporates reward, safety, and fairness into its name! TRUFBA is invented for everybody, not just for those who have been born with certain traits as traditional basketball and some other popular sports are created for. The TRUFBA inventor believes that: “Sports should be created for the people, rather than people being born for sports!” TRUFBA is a new kind of basketball game which incorporates many aspects of traditional basketball. TRUFBA presents an alternative to traditional basketball. While traditional basketball favors big and tall players, TRUFBA offers big, small, tall, short, strong, and weak players a fair chance to compete in a rewarding, safe, and fair game of basketball. TRUFBA utilizes the same playing skills and similar equipment (i.e. court, backboard, basket, ball, etc.) as those used by traditional basketball. However, new rules are provided for playing and scoring whereas the court floor is divided into equal square cells, which determine the shooting scores and help prevent physical contact among players since each cell can be possessed by only one player at any time. TRUFBA is a full-court basketball game in which players play at all locations on the court floor throughout the game. Scores are based on shooting distance, ranging from 1 to 17 points per shot. Physical contact among players is strictly prohibited. All players are given equal roles, equal playing time, and equal ball handling opportunities. TRUFBA eliminates many things that are fundamental parts of traditional basketball, such as free throw, held ball, jump ball, throw-in, coaches’ power, overtime, etc. TRUFBA players receive negative points, rather than free throws against their team, for fouls and violations. TRUFBA pioneers a new sport concept called “Teaming Individual Sport” in which players play in teams but each competes for himself. Outstanding players, rather than their team, receive rewards and recognition at the end of a TRUFBA game.
