Andy's life is going nowhere, fast. He left art school with his career all worked out ahead of time, but ...to say it didn't work out is the understatement of the century. Unemployed and living with his overbearing parents, Andy struggles to keep sight of the lofty goals that once drove him. But it's hard, even when he reconnects with his old art school crush, Yumi. Things look better, briefly, with Yumi back in the picture and an actual job offer on the table. But then Andy takes the job offer--to work at a zoo--and finds himself in an alternate dimension. The zoo? Is run by aliens. The exhibit? Is him. Derek Kirk Kim is back with an offbeat, poignant new project. The first volume of a series, Tune is a science fiction comedy, but it's also a smart and affectionate examination of human nature.

A quick search on Half.com later, and I was just waiting to get the books so I could ca...
Completely missed that this was a volume 1 and not a stand alone, and it ends on a cliffhanger right when the story gets interesting. Figures! (You guys can thank me, I just added the series info and "Book 1" to the title so you're not duped like I was.)Not bad but kind of annoying that this is goin...
Very cute and short, so even if you don't end up liking it, you won't have lost much. The one obnoxious element was the beginning of the romantic element because it was very...ultimate nerd boy fantasy, but whatever, didn't ultimately take away from the story as a whole. Some laugh out loud jokes in...
Appeal Characteristics: nerds, comic illustrators, starving artists, Korean Americans, college, alien life form, zoo, relationships, first loves, growing upThis book was hilarious. I think the farfetched ideal appeal worked. I think I'm also laughing because Eddy's parents sound EXACTLY like the way...
Starts off great but I wasn't terribly impressed with the aliens. Will have to see what the sequel holds.
