Out of all the dystopias that got attention in the wake of "The Hunger Games", "Uglies" is the odd one out, and not just because it was published before the trend-setter. A book that was written in the third person rather than the first, one with heavily environmental subtext, and one that, at least...

After the trainwreck Twilight series, I enjoyed reading a bunch of books recommended to me as "anti-Twilights." I greatly enjoyed Robin McKinley's Sunshine, Melissa Marrs' Wicked Lovely, Suzanne Collins Hunger Games, Tamora Pierce's Tortall books. I recommend all of those--and Uglies--but I think it...

Did I enjoy Uglies? Yeah, I kind of did. Even though I did find it somewhat predictable, I still seemed happy to be reading on, to want to discover what happens and how they deal with a certain situation. But then the certain situation was a fairly unbelievable scene. Hmmm. Okay, let me try and gath...

This book was unrealistic for me. Of course it's a science fiction type novel so it's not going to be REAL in present day, but I didn't like how fast everything moved and the relationships that happened. I felt like a relationship formed in all of one paragraph. I didn't even want to finish it, but ...

I thought that this book was so cool. It took a totally different take on the dystopian thing. The way people perceive themselves and beauty is a very fascinating thing and his spin made it the perfect read. Really enjoyed this book.

In a world where you are made pretty at 16, Tally can't wait. She's the last of her year to become pretty and join the others partying. It's how life works in this world, she doesn't question it until she meets Shay who doesn't want to be Pretty, she wants to stay herself and she might have a way....

I liked it, but I think I would have liked it more if I've read it last year when I was supposed to. Or when I was 15-16, like Tally is. Or if I'd read more dystopian before. The world seems to be very sci-fi-futuristic-movie-ish. I would like to see the world in a film, I think that would be good. ...
