Have you considered creating your own living legacy, to see the results within your life time?I would like to dedicate this book to all the people that are living their life on autopilot. They may be missing out on opportunities that could be harvested to enrich their life, and the lives of others. I have no doubt, many of us reflect on our journey, wishing we had made better choices and had done things differently. We can’t change the past, but we can influence the future by being mindful of our actions. We live in a fast paced world and often exist on the proverbial hamster wheel, trying to make a living. Frequently we overlook the need to make a life. Regrets can leave deep scars on our soul and hit us with a debilitating curve ball when we least expect it. I believe that everyone should leave their mark on this world, to create a legacy that they are remembered for long into the future. For me, it’s not just what we do in this world but how we influence our environment and the people, which we touch during our lives. If we can accept that we are the instigator of change and the influencer of memories, then we can take credit for our contribution to the process. My personal mission is to leave this world in a better place than I found it. Hopefully I’ll create a legacy with you, the reader of this book, to change the way that you think and how you interact with your world. It is important to give yourself permission to be self-indulgent in your quest to not necessarily help other people but influencing people for the positive memory of you. Self-gratification from the knowledge that you have made someone else’s life better because of the contact you have had with them.Creating a legacy has never been about selflessly helping people but more about positively influencing people. The effort for improvement has to come from the person involved but acting as a role model or facilitator allows people to do it for them. You get the credit for guiding or encouraging people to associate with the feelings that they need and that which they will remember. Therefore in your own quest to leave a lasting legacy you don’t need to get every to like you, just value what you can do for them. Although it is essential for you to understand yourself “what is in it for you” it is vital for you to leave the person involved with a lasting impression of “what is in it for them” as that becomes their memory of what has happened. The simplistic beauty of leaving a memory for someone is that you know it’s going to happen, you are the controller but they are unaware that they will receive it until it has happened. Therefore other people have no expectations or preconceived ideas about how you will help them because it is something you are planning for the future. But this book isn’t about chance meetings or random conversations; it’s learning to create a bias towards the outcome you want. It’s about having an agenda behind every touch point that will bring you closer to your desire to make a difference to the people that you meet. The difference will happen when you are mindful of what other people need to make them “feel good about themselves” rather than just doing the nice things for them.
