Review also found at my blog, http://kindlebooklove.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html 5 Urban Fantasy Swoony Lurve Stars If you're looking to read this series for a love story, this is not the book for you, but there kind of is one, or could be one. Or two. Chess is totally worth it though f...

Loved the world building, the characters (omg, just adored Terrible!), and the use of magic. It took me a bit to understand what was happening, but that was alright; I really enjoyed trying to figure out where Chess fit in her world. So excited about this series that I bought a couple more!

Originally posted at Paperback Wonderland. Okay, this is probably the darkest urban fantasy I have read yet BUT it's making me flail around like a 12 year old fangirl because First of all, Chess is such a damaged character - that isn't unusual in urban fantasy, everyone in the genre seems lik...

It's a world like ours but it's subtly different. The dead appeared many years ago and attacked the living and now the Church of Real Truth are in power, they have the power to save people from these ghosts and they're willing to use it for a fee. However if you try to fake a haunting they will fin...

First book in the "Downside Ghosts" series Let me start by saying, that i think it takes guts for an author, to write a series featuring such flawed characters. These aren't your "run of mill" characters...In this book, you won't find any heroines or hero's...just people trying to survive. This is ...

What a ride! HUGE thanks to Laura *Little Read Riding Hood* for bullying me into reading this. It wasn't an easy read by any means - TOTALLY put my love of flawed characters to the test! - but I enjoyed the heck out of it & am proud to call myself a Terrible girl :) On to the next one!

Sometimes I want to tell a book "It's not you. It's me." and I felt like that reading this one. There's a lot to like here, it's an interesting world with it's new world order and devastated population. Chess is an interesting heroine, and if I was unsure at first about a drug addict narrator, I t...

It looks like I have a new UF series to obsess over! If you know me you know how I gravitate toward flawed characters. So I am pleased that the main character, Chess, is one. She's a Debunker by day - a Church witch who banishes ghosts for a living and a woman with a hidden agenda at night. When wor...

4+ Wow, what a thrill ride. Great world building and unusual protagonists. Definitely more edgy then any of the PNR with romance that I've read. Still, I'm surprised that I haven't come across more discussion of this series because, at least so far, it's well done and fun to read.
