Charlie's last case left her tired and emotionally drained, so her office staff convinces her to schedule a vacation to Kauai, Hawaii. Riding from the front seat of a helicopter tour, Charlie and the pilot spot Gilbert Page's lifeless body lying on the rugged rocks of Kauai's NaPali coast. Drake's friend and employer, Mack Garvey, is arrested for the murder of Gilbert Page, a slick businessman from California, with an alcoholic wife, a spoiled-rotten son, and a blonde on his arm.Drake persuades Charlie to help clear Mack. Meeting resistance from the police is nothing new to Charlie, but in this case police officer Akito has an old grudge against Mack Garvey. In addition, Mack knew the victim and owed him a half a million dollars.
