I was willing the heroine and her antagonist M.Paul to get together all the way through this book...the ambiguous ending had me spitting feathers...was it happy ever after ..or was it not..only the author knew..!

No doubt that this is a beautifully written book. Bronte has an excellent command of words. Although I loved Jane Eyre, I could not come even close to liking Lucy. Therefore, I couldn't enjoy the novel. I plowed through it, wanting myself to get some pleasure out of this arduous tome. This book is mo...

For a very long time I've thought that the only Bronte novel I would ever really like is [b:Jane Eyre|10210|Jane Eyre|Charlotte Brontë|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-Atpe8kVL._SL75_.jpg|2977639]. I am very pleased to have put that idea to the challenge and proven myself wrong. Villette is ...

I don't know what to say about this book. It's been a week since I finished it, and I can't stop stewing about it. It started off interesting enough, but I was initially afraid that as Lucy's circumstances changed, the most interesting part and characters of the story were left behind in Bretton, ...

In honor of Charlotte Bronte's birthday today, here is my review of her spectacular book, Villette. "Villette! Villette! Have you read it?" I love Lucy Snowe! From the moment I read, "I seemed to hold two lives - the life of thought, and that of reality; and, provided the former was nourished with...

I read Jane Eyre for my GCSE coursework; and, being totally honest, didn't enjoy it. It did have a compelling plot, what with the mad woman in the attic thing, but there was something about it that left me rather cold. However, I own copies of Villette and Shirley, Charlotte Bronte's other novels, an...

Although Charlotte Bronte is probably best known for Jane Eyre, many people consider Villette her best novel. There are definitely many similarities between the two. The heroine of Villette, Lucy Snowe is also an orphan who shares many of Jane's best qualities - she's intelligent, fiercely indepen...

This was my least favorite CB book. To be honest with the reader of this review, I found myself lost at times through out the book. There were chunks of the book which were written in French, so I had to use google translator or whatever it is called. It took me FOREVER to get through this book!

What is it about Brontë that pulls a reader in so quickly? Many years ago, when I was in seventh grade, perhaps, I remember starting Jane Eyre. Within a page, I was hooked. I couldn't put the book down and knew my mother would soon be announcing "Bed time - it's a school night!" I raced against time...
