I really liked this book! It has horses, healers, warlords, and intrigue. I loved Lara and Keir, the main characters, but I think I may love some of the supporting characters just as much (aka Marcus, Simus, Jehod, and Gils). Just as a warning there are some 'sexy bits' in this book.

This was an interesting book to read. Re-published in 2011 and originally copyrighted in 2005, this book felt the hallmark of an older-era romantic fantasy. I put me very much in the mind of Patricia Briggs Masques in the feel of the world-building, and the romance; almost a medieval meets middle w...

Joint review originally posted here: http://thebookpushers.com/2012/04/02/joint-review-warprize-by-elizabeth-vaughanMinnChica: I’m probably the one bookpusher who doesn’t read that much fantasy. I have a few authors I’ve enjoyed, but it’s not my go-to genre. I have no idea when, but at some point, I...

Sigh... warlord.... I read this book solely on Ilona Andrew's review....honestly by the end of the book, thats the only thing you think of.I hope the book doesnt go like Windlegend series... which I adore the first book until the politics made a huge mess of it and Charlotte Boyett-Compo kill off th...

Yeah it's cheesy, and yeah, it's tropey- but I loved it anyway. One of those guilty pleasure books, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. You won't find anything too deep here, but you might really have fun with it if you're in the right mindset.

Really did not care for the heroine, Lara. She seemed incredibly naive and showed little, if any growth. Despite knowing her half-brother's hatred for her, his lies about her being given as a slave, and telling her to her face that she was a bitch and a whore, she still believed in his innocence o...

5/5; 5 stars; A+I've read this book a couple of times. The World created by the author is imaginative and unusual. I loved the romance, the culture, horses, everything!

This book felt like a throwback to highschool, a more romantic version of Kate Elliott's JARAN. I love how the cultural differences between Lara and Kier are resolved, very uncomplicated HEA but done in a straightforward way that felt new.

My thoughts:I had heard good things about this series, and then book 1 got re-published so of course I had to take a look, and I am glad I did.The book is about Xylara, and she is one brave woman. I admired her strength, and courage. She was taken as a warprize, but instead of sitting in a tent bei...
