I'm sorry, world. It's a great comic book, but it might be a bit "too great".As in, it might have been trying too hard to be dark and gritty and "realistic" and philosophical. No particular element was too much, but combined it was just too many spices for it to be tasty rather than blah.Well, there i...
I saw the film before I read this and liked them both about equally. The comic is probably better but I got more out of the film (loved the soundtrack). Also, though neither ending makes much sense, the one in the film is more satisfying. I just couldn't take the space squid seriously. I'm sorry,...

I feel totally ill equipped to give this book a rating. While I can appreciate it on many levels I still did not like it, did not enjoy reading it, nor did I like the artwork. This is one book that I'm going to have to let settle for awhile before I rate. In the meantime, I'm just going to give a hu...
This ... was amazing. I had watched the movie and then, at the mall one day, happened upon this, and decided to purchase it (there was only one left and I heard someone at the counter asking if they had any so I'm glad I picked it up when I did). I love graphic novels and this one has got to be on...
Back in 2009, when the movie came out, my boyfriend went to see it (without me - I will not knowingly see a movie based on a book I might someday want to read) and didn't like it at all. He came out of the movie saying that it made him mad how there were all sorts of references to "Illuminati" stuff...
Another book with brilliant moments that tore through me, but not enough of them. By the time I was through two-thirds of it I was bored and just wanted it to end. Did it have interesting characters? Yes. Did it have solid storytelling? Yes. Was the artwork good? No complaints. It was mostly a brit'...
This might get bumped up from 4 stars to 5. I'm not sure yet, I still need more time to let it sink in. EDIT: Yep, took me about five minutes to decide to bump it up to 5. It's not truly a 5 in my book though. It's somewhere between a 4 and a 5, but I'm feeling generous so I'll round up. EDIT: Back ...
Sufficiently dense and inventive to hold up to multiple readings, even the parts that drive me crazy (Tales of the Black Freighter, I'm looking at you! Among other things). Chapter IV (Watchmaker) is the single most perfect issue of a comic that I can think of at this moment.
It's awesome, maybe I'll enjoy it even better had I know more about superhero comics. Certain plot points e.g. the destruction of NYC & references to historical events e.g. the proxy war in Afghanistan might have a more interesting feel post 2002.
