A History Nut's Romantic State of Mind
I thought long and hard about this rating. I really struggled with it. I love the way JAL depicts people, their feelings, who they are and the interactions between characters. Exquisite and subtle writing. I hope to see more writers exhibit such writing skills. I will continue to read JAL just for t...

Fantastic book. I loved the slowly growing romance between Alex and Genevieve and the small little sarcastic remarks they would make that would surprise each other. The ending was great. I would recommend this book.

I did not read the other books from the same series. I started with this one (caught my attention, unlike the others). Cannot be read as standalone. It was not like I was completely lost, but I think it is better to start with Nr. 1.I did not like:- The love-triangle: which extends until the final p...

This is one of the best historical romances I have read. Up there with my top 5 From the first meeting between the Duke and Genevieve I was hooked. Their banter back and forth was entertaining and funny, and added to the slow build of sexual tension and love. I like when I read these books that I ...

I have to say, this series has been rather hit, miss, blah for me. Luckily this one was a hit. I highly enjoyed the main characters, and the secondary characters too actually. The plot was one that I have yet to have read in the 168 historical romance novels I have read since I started keeping track...

This is the first book I've read by Julie Anne Long, and she thoroughly impressed me with her writing. More often than not I find most author's attempts at intimate scenes to be cheesy and/or cliche. However, I was absolutely floored by Long's talent in this area especially. "She tensed beneath...

Definitely my favorite JAL read. There was a lot of humor, without resorting to the mean girl casual cruelty that I've found in some of her other books. Don't get me wrong, I'm as sarcastic as they come but I don't like particularly like it when the target seems undeserving of the barbs. In any e...

Bad Dukes need love, too.How insipid and flat everything seems after reading this book.It is mostly about gambling, and the Duke is the biggest gambler of them all. You suck the air in and say: gambling is bad. But let me ask you: how would we feel anything, if it weren’t for gambling? And if you ex...

I adored this book. I have a very soft spot for May-December romances, and this one is a DELIGHT. Of course, I can't not mention the things about JAL's writing that irritate the crap out of me. (Humored is not, has never been, and never should be used as a dialogue tag. And it's not the only word mi...

Such a perfect, beautiful, heart-warming romance. The only one of the series I've read, but I might have to go back to book 1 and rectify that considering how much I enjoyed this.
