There are no miracles here . . . . . . or very few. And if they occur, they are slow, painful, minor miracles. But still these invisible children find voices to sing—to discover hope in their hopelessness, to find courage where there is only fear, to reach out to God when even he seems far away. And at the end of the day, they simply ask to be seen. When Invisible Children Sing is the story of Bolivian street children—children who’ve been abandoned by life, shut out of society, and forced to take refuge in sewers and back alleys. Dr. Chi-Cheng Huang has lived and worked among the street children in La Paz, Bolivia, since 1997, delivering medical care, friendship, and encouragement wherever he can.As he has grown to love and care for these children, Dr. Huang has known the slow miracles of helping street kids find hope and healing as they struggle to make a better life for themselves. But he has also known the heartbreak and loss that accompany the violence and danger of living on the street. This is his account of his work among the children of Bolivia. Dr. Huang does not ask for sympathy or accolades. He asks only that we see his children.
