Sitting front and center in the library, this book was calling to me. The cover with its crisp lines and that graphic face, the high reviews that it received and the twisted synopsis; I just had to give it a go. Perhaps I am a more traditional reader, a person who likes a character that they can rel...
I stayed up last night to finish this book and in my opinion she didn't go far enough away for me. After looking at other reviews this morning, I guess many other readers liked this escapade.....we all have our own tastes. Review to follow as soon as I can figure out exactly what I read.
Because I read this book a month ago, and the plot is somewhat convoluted, I am resorting to the plot summary from Goodreads to help me explain what the book is about: Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fiercely opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers...
I've been hearing about this book for quite some time now. I didn't know what to expect and still don't really know how I feel about it. I'm giving it an overall three star rating it, because while I enjoyed and even laughed out loud a few times I'm left feeling unsure about the ending. Meet Berna...
originally from: http://thefaultinourblogs.blogspot.comThis book was a very quick read, especially compared to the Kingsolver novel I picked up two weeks ago and am still slogging through. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I picked up a copy at a garage sale for $1 and I'd heard some good buzz about...
I am troubled by the fact that new contemporary lit is just reinventing itself into a bloody mess of overly embellished novels. this is one example. The writing style was complicated, felt a bit disjointed, and compared to the simple style of writing and simple plot, it was overly stylized.
I started this book as an audiobook, one of my three selections from World Book Night 2014 and played it over the weekend on a long drive. When I got back home the first thing I did was search my local library to see if I could borrow it. It was and I did and I spent the rest of the weekend reading ...
An interesting satire with a lot of funny moments, a few laughed-out-loud ones, and also some heartwarming situations. Since I had the privilege of visiting Seattle last year, it was great for me to be reminded of its characteristics, its weather and its lovely people. Even the ones this book makes ...
Bernadette Fox, the namesake of this book marches to the beat of her own drum and she doesn't apologize for it. She is an award-winning architect and moves with her Microsoft genius of a husband Elgin to Seattle to raise a family. After years of trying, finally their daughter Bee is born and she is ...
I bought the paperback edition of this book at my local independent bookstore, The Green Toad.. Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionar...
