Newbery Honor this year. I can definitely see why–Lin takes Chinese folk tales and weaves them together into something which is new and fresh, but which also feels authentic. This would be great for slightly younger readers, or anyone who enjoys traditional stories. [Feb. 2010]
For a lot of this I thought I was going to give it 4 stars but then when everything came together at the end I may have gotten a little teary and as we all know that is the bar for 5 stars. Super sweet, loved it.
