I borrowed this book from the library and waited until my time was almost up to sit down and read it. This was both a good thing and a bad thing. I wish I had read this sooner, it's that good, but I haven't had the time to just sit and read in weeks. This is one of those books I devoured from start ...
there's more to life than reading books
Mostly enjoyed this story. I appreciated the character development and their background stories, particularly Robert's relationship with his Dad. It was a different perspective for a dying parent scenario and one that I hadn't really considered before. My issue with this book is that it romanticise...

Horribly bad grade school stereotypes abound! I liked the overall plot, but the characters were just so nasty and mean. Homophobic (look at Nic) and sexist (look at Maya and Jennifer). I'm still really surprised at all the hate that was packed into this book.

And this one goes straight onto my "Yeah but no but yeah conflicted" shelf. It's a 3.5, but rounded up because I can't stop thinking about it. The writing is really good. Really good. But in this one, 24 year old Andrew is the teacher, and 18 year old Robert are the teacher and student, and J.H. changed my mind. Because I...

I'm still questioning my desire to give this 5 stars because I don't see myself willing to reread this. I'll leave it for now.But this book had me riled up in so many different ways. Despite the fact that I ended the story not necessarily liking any of the characters, I was fully invested in the sto...

Trigger warning - this book deals with a teacher/student relationship and one that doesn't pull a lot of punches. I put it under young adult because there aren't any graphic sex scenes, but sex is alluded to. And often. That said, I ate this book up like a bag of Lays potato chips. I couldn't put it...
