Aw, I liked this book a lot. I think Pierce's writing has improved somewhat over the early Alanna books. Not that it was bad before, but this is just delightful. The magic, especially, was great in this book. I loved getting to talk to the different kinds of animals and see how they think. Whales are...

While I like Diane, I'll never love her the way I do Alanna and Kel. I don't know why, and it's not really fair, but her story never grasped me the same way. But that doesn't mean I don't still enjoy this quartet, and especially the first book is great fun. Hearing her reactions to meeting the chara...

I think, if it's possible, I like the Immortals series even more than the Lioness. I think its all the animals/wild magic. And Daine and Numair are just so captivating, an incredible duo. Tamora Pierce creates the best adventures. So many unique characters and story lines. I'm really looking forw...

Daine's magic is vague, but then it usually is in Tor...

Once in Tortall, Daine discovers she has Wild Magic, which enables her to communicate and control all animals. Despit...

When I'm dog tired and distracted, this is my kind of escapist fiction. Sometimes you just had a long week. You met all the obligations on the list and for some reason it was a long list, and you're fighting some sort of a minor virus and mostly winning, and those new shoes are needing to break in...
