As one other reviewer said, "it's often too hard to see the forest for the 'twee," which felt just too apt for this novel. Imaginative and fun. I read an advance copy, so I missed out on a lot of the illustrations, which look wonderful in the finished book. There are expository sections that flesh out the story but don't do much to advance the plot, so I wouldn't recommend it to reluctant readers.
