I was considering bumping up the star because I enjoyed the re-read so much; a re-read can kill a book but this one pass with flying colour. In the end I leave it as is, my 5 stars books tends to jump at me and declare without hesitation their 5-starness. So if in doubt, it's not.Now onward to the s...

Once I got used to the use of "he" to designate almost exclusively Cromwell, I was enthralled by this book. The writing is indeed peculiar, but I had been warned beforehand, it is special but not disagreeable, just something that needs to be said. Historically this book is faultless, and Mantel succ...

4 1/2 stars, really-the oddball pronoun thing is pointless, and sometimes confusing. Otherwise, amazing.

Most of the ti...

The writing style and voice were just too odd for me to finish. Read probably about half before decided I just didn't want to finish this.

The title of this book is so misleading. I picked it up because I saw it on a bunch of "to read" lists and I have not really read anything about Jane Seymour. The first paragraph I realized, I've read this. It's not about Jane Seymour, it's about Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII...hmm. But then I ...

Alright, I love me some Tudors but I could not get into this one. It could have been the audiobook and I may have enjoyed it more if I went the print route, possibly. But after 4 hours of listening I just wasn't looking forward to the next 19 hours.

I'm not big on historical fiction, and have read nearly nothing on the Tudors, but it is fitting to me that here on the anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth (the virgin one), I gnawed Wolf Hall to the bone.It occurs to me that the Elvis Costello song "(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea" could be...
