Written in My Own Heart's Blood: by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander Book 8 | Summary & Analysis by Book*Sense

This is a Summary & Analysis of Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon. The sweeping Outlander series continues in the substantial Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. The book cannot properly be called an epic—but it is certainly a romance in several senses of the word, not unlike Malory in scope and in some of its content, and like him entwined in the lived histories of the readers’ world. Though, a long read, it is still an excellent piece.

The text occupies several locations and several times in a number of them. A chunk of the text takes place in Revolutionary Philadelphia as it is vacated by the British army and many who would remain loyal to Britain, grounding the text in essential Americana likely to resonate with many of its readers.

Written in My Own Heart’s Blood follows the continuing adventures of the Frasers and those who marry them in the Scotland and United States of the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Progressing in nine parts, it offers a multi-threaded narrative that allows for detailed attention to be paid to its many important characters and offers the chance to explore a variety of narrative points of view.

This Analysis of Written in My Own Heart’s Blood fills the gap, making you understand more while enhancing your reading experience.
