I wanted to shake things up a bit on my daily commute so I thought I would give a few audiobooks a shot. The one I started with is one that has been on my TRL for ages but for some reason I never got around to picking it up. Yes Please by Amy Poehler got some major press and accolades but was especi...

My apology to women authors (with an assist from Amy Poehler)I have to start this review with a confessional sidenote. As I went to choose my next read after Nick Harkaway’s Tigerman, I ended up with a pool of five potential books, eventually settling on the second in the series of memoirs by Ngugi w...

I must confess that I'm a latecomer to appreciating the talent of Amy Poehler. I first saw her during her stint on Saturday Night Live, though she was on during a time when I pretty much never watched the show, so much of it was filtered through clips of her "Weekend Update" performances and her (am...

Listen to Amy Poehler read her memoir? Yes Please! Amy Poehler is hilarious but also at times poignant and deep. I listened to the memoir during my runs (as is my wont), and once again, people were probably wondering about my laughing like a crazy person. The hazard of listening to the funny out...

Honestly, I just skimmed this. I wasn't feeling it like I do a lot of nonfiction. It had some funny quotes, but eh, just seemed mediocre to me. Maybe if I was a bigger Amy fan. Oh well.

This was a great memoir that read like a conversation between friends. I am glad she focused on herself and her work rather than her divorce. Amy Poehler was real, showing scars, warts, and mistakes as well as good times. There is a lot of celebrity name-dropping, but mostly it was her friends or me...

This book was a lot of fun to read. Some of the stories were a bit slow, but overall, they were enjoyable. I was surprised at how down to earth Poehler really is. I look forward to the possibility of reading more books by her, as they should be quite interesting.

This book is so up, down, and all around, it is hard not to love. It is like being inside Poehler's brain. Yes, much of the text is very scattered and Poehler will go off on multiple tangents when telling a story, but she always comes back to the original point eventually and gives some advice/insig...
