Described as "like Fables but for Harry Potter". Sounds good!

Another win for Carey and Gross!Even if the book wasn't as it good as it is, it would merit a lot of praise for the "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" issue that made sense and was shaded enough to overcome the substantial gimmick-factor of the premise. The Unwritten Next: 'Leviathan' Previous: 'Insi...

Tommy drops through a portal and finds himself a minor character in Moby Dick and ends up being swallowed by a giant metaphor, alongside Jonah, Sinbad, Pinocchio, and Baron Munchhausen.

Worth reading for the choose your own adventure section. Is Lizzie Hexam a mentally disturbed young woman named Jane Waxman or is she actually a character from Our Mutual Friend brought to life? Did Wilson Taylor introduce her to magical means of entering into fictional worlds or did he push her f...

This was a book that, in the beginning, I didn't expect to like. I anticipated this book being a pot shot at Harry Potter and its fandom. A deconstruction of the series (and YA fiction) by someone who doesn't appreciate the genre.Instead, I enjoyed this volume and definitely am going to read subsequ...

Moribito II picks up just after Moribito ends, with Balsa returning to her home country of Kanbal to visit her Master and father-figure Jiguro's relatives, and explain about the circumstances surrounding their departure twenty some-odd years ago. Balsa and Jiguro had originally fled Kanbal because o...

I initially watched the anime, which covers only the first book. When I realized this second book was going to take place in Kanbal, Balsa's homeland, and not include any of the characters introduced in the first book, I was a little slow and unmotivated to get started with this. Another thing that ...
