Tired of the typical boring guides? This guide tries to do the same as the “ask a local”, but it is (maybe!) better organized and more complete. In all our guides, we hire a “local” writer, and then we edit to be sure that the guide is complete, unique, fun and interesting. Typically we won’t add too many maps or photos (just a few), since you can have all that on the internet, and we like to give you only unique and original content that you won’t find easily.
Here is a brief description of the guide:
This guide written by a Tico (a Costa Rica local) is meant to give you an insider’s overview of a surprising and vibrant country in Latin America, which is unique for its love of peace, the environment and for having some of the lushest natural setting on the planet. As we begin our dive into Costa Rica, we start off with a history lesson in chapter 2 before “Arriving in San Jose” in chapter 3. Chapter 4 provides the necessary information on how to get around the country and what means of transportation you will have at your disposal. Without any further ado, chapter 5 presents the best beaches of Costa Rica as experienced by a local, including some very remote and secluded white sand beaches that will create memories to last a lifetime. Costa Rica is known for its surfing spots and whether you’re pro at the sport or you want to learn, chapter 6 explores the best surfer beaches.
Costa Rica’s natural biodiversity is astonishing; in chapter 7 we look at the best national parks and what they are known for. There is so much adventure to be had in Costa Rica, from climbing volcanoes, to diving in waterfalls, to river rafting and canopy tours. Learn all about it in chapter 8 and if you still need some adrenaline rush, learn what are the best off-road trips you can take in Costa Rica in chapter 9. Any tourist expects to see wildlife when visiting Costa Rica; get some tips on spotting wildlife when you trek the rainforest in chapter 10. Although Costa Rica is mostly known for its incredible nature, there are also some charming towns that you can visit. Find out which are those towns in chapter 11 and you might decide to “Work, relocate or invest in Costa Rica”. If you do, read chapter 12 to find out everything you need. Costa Rica is becoming increasingly known for its medical tourism; in chapter 13 you are introduced to the new trend of taking a “medical vacation”. Costa Rica is also a popular destination for those who want to learn Spanish, but finding a good Spanish school can be overwhelming since there are so many. Get some recommendations if you want to come for a fun study trip in chapter 14. Finally, we get to the food and drinks chapter in chapter 15 and next we cover the types of accommodations you should expect to encounter in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is a very safe country, but this local wants you to avoid any displeasure, so read up “Staying safe in Costa Rica”. Ticos love to sing, dance and party. Chapter 18 and chapter 19 introduce you to Costa Rican music and to the abundance of festivities and when they take place during the year. The last chapter “Adios, Costa Rica” leaves you with some useful local slang so you can impress the locals on your trip. Enjoy your travels!
