I wanted to love this but it was so slow. It took more than half way though for me to feel engaged with the characters and by then it felt too late. Maybe I'll try Finnikin of the Rock which my co-workers love and see if it was just this book or if I'm just not a fan of this author.

Head over to Kaelyn's Loot for more bookish treasures, lads and lassies! My mates, sometimes in our lives, we come across a book that changes our entire being, that makes you question nothing and everything, that makes you sit in place for hours on end to just...think...about life. This is the kind of book that it's hard to rate or value based on the story, characters, and all of the things that you'd normally take into consideration when you review a book. It's a very odd book, especially when compared to normal "young-adult" fare. After all, it's not linear; the beginning is...

And Im really looking forward to read Armada (oct 2014) by same author. 2: Wonder: this was such a sweet heartwarming story. I really loved how August developed through the ...

Right from the start Melina Marchetta sucks you into the story. You’re catapulted into the middle of an incredibly defining event. The beginning of the book is shrouded in mystery, and it’s a little confusing knowing who’s who and what they signify, if they’re even real or just a made up story. I lo...

On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta is remarkable. I finished reading this book yesterday afternoon and after a good hour of crying I spent my night thinking about it. It's without a doubt one of the best books I've ever read. This is a complex story and like some reviews have already ...

I did not even realize On the Jellicoe Road was getting to me until it firmly had its claws in me and I had misty eyes. Don't get me wrong, I was enjoying the book but I did not realize how much I had grown to love the characters contained within this book until that moment. It is a significant even...
