One of the best collection of short stories I've read.

Very strong collection of weird stories, particularly "20th Century Ghost" and "The Black Phone." Low on gore, high on well-written characters placed in vivid situations, reading this was like finding long lost Twilight Zone episodes.

Maybe I'll try to read this some other time. I just can't get into it.

I consider myself a huge fan of Joe Hill. I read his novel Heart Shaped Box, one of my absolute favorite stories now, first and immediately sought out everything he has written. One of the finest short-story collections I've ever read. I am a better person, in some small way, for having read it.

This book took me a little longer to read than anthologies typically do because I wanted to savor it. I was really hoping that my enjoyment of Horns wasn't an isolated incident and that Joe Hill is really as good as that book indicates. He's not just as good as Horns, though, he's better. He really ...

An amazingly strong collection of stories. I love them because they all have actual plots, and some of them are particularly chilling. I hope that Hill continues to publish stories, as well as novels, he's just so good at it.

In his introduction, Christopher Golden (who, by the way, collaborated on The Complete Stephen King Universe: A Guide to the Worlds of Stephen King with Stanley Wiater, if you're interested) said that Joe Hill is a master of subtlety in the way that he tells stories. And it's true. His stories all h...
