This book has a lot of stories in it, some interesting, strange, weird and some just leave you thinking "Did that really happen?" the book starts off with the story Best New Horror which is about an editor, Eddie Carrol, of a horror magazine that publishes stories. Eddie reads a story called 'Butt...

A good but uneven collection of short stories from the author of the excellent horror novel Heart-Shaped Box. Some are horror stories and some are not. Yet all fix under the more vague description of dark fantasy. When a story is good though, it is brilliant. The best short tales in the book include...

I loved the book so much. The short stories here are very, VERY good. A couple are very creepy (one even reminded me of "Home", one of the best TXF episodes, EVER), the others weird (in a good way), and imaginative. And all of them feel so sincere and and heartfelt, as well. An astounding book.

The crab apple does not fall far from the poisoned tree. While the sensibility is his own, it is eminently clear that Joe Hill has been gifted with DNA predisposed to horror greatness. Before Heart-Shaped Box, Hill wrote short stories. Maybe he still does.I was immediately taken with his ability to ...

It contained a few memorable stories like "Abraham's Sons" and "The Inflatable Boy". As much as I enjoyed them, even they were not true gh...

Joe King Hill is a pretty good writer. I mean, he should be, given his lineage. If he didn’t pick anything up from a lifetime of being around his father, then he would deserve to be nothing more than a name-dropper. That he’s not a name-dropper, and that he has enjoyed some deserved success over ...

I bought this in hardcover, something I rarely do but I had a gift certificate to B&N and I really enjoyed Joe Hill's book Heart Shaped Box. I can only read in snippets so this book of short stories should be a perfect fit.Best New Horror is the first story in the collection and is about a horror a...

A nice, but still creepy, "love" story for horror buffs.Pop Art - The best short story that I have ever read. Can't go into too many details without giving away spoilers. You Will H...

This was a good read, thanks for getting me to read it Rusty! There were a couple of stories in here that I really loved, and then several that I was just meh about, only one I actively disliked. Some of the stories felt like sketches more than full blown stories. I appreciated the variety though...
