Great fantasy book. Really good to find a new series (well, new to me) with dungeons, dragons, swords and magic. I'm getting sick of the over-saturation of the market of witches, vampires and werewolves. I've been looking for something different for a while, and George R. R. Martin is it. CAN NOT WA...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is well written and full of twists and turns. Instead of reading this, I listened to the audible version. The voice talent was excellent and made the book even more inviting. The ending was awesome. I am looking forward to reading the next book, in the series...

A good yarn. Telegenic prose. Wouldn't it be cool if they made this into a television series?

Spent the last few days indulging in a reread of this one. I hope to have the entire series finished by the end of the year. Nice thing about rereads is that you get to pick up the little details you missed on the first go around. The sheer tragedy of this story is what hit me this time around. Ne...

Usually I am all about the books before I venture into the TV shows or movies, but this time the show came first. This is an all-time favorite series of my husband that he insisted I read and I am so glad that he did! Having seen the show first, the actors have become the faces of the characters i...

The first installment of a mock-medieval epic saga with mild hints of epic fantasy literature.Martin meticulously studied medieval history and customs, which shows in this thrilling, yet highly plausible world he created.Like many others, I, too, have started reading this only upon watching the firs...

Game of Thrones is one of those books I've been failing to read for a while now. I'm not an epic fantasy fan, although as with science fiction I suspect my issues lie with the tropes of the genre rather than the actual books: Cloud Skywatersbaine dreams of being a knight/is a humble swineheard/lives...

Wow, first things first this book was very long. I even thought I'd be bored in the middle and end up not finishing this, but I didn't get bored, and I finished it happily. For a fantasy book to be good, for me, it needs 2 elements. One, a very good world building, and the second is very good charact...

The first volume of A Song of Ice and Fire, the greatest fantasy epic of the modern age. GAME OF THRONES is now a major TV series from HBO, starring Sean Bean. Summers span decades. Winter can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun. As Warden of the north, Lord Eddard Star...
