A wonderful book. It has a little of fantasy but more than anything, is a touching story about a boy and his mother who is sick of Cancer. There were times where the yew tree reminded me of LOTR, and others (when it was telling its stories), when it reminded me of The Princess Bride. The writing i...

Enjoyable and emotional story of a young man coming to terms with the impending death of his mum. I purchased the illustrated paperback and the illustrations add greatly to a wonderful story.

Love. Love. Love. Love. Yes, I absolutely enjoyed this little book. I've been hearing about Patrick Ness for a little while now (all good things) and I can see why. His storytelling is brilliant. This is a wonderful adaptation of Siobhan Dowd's ideas. A fairly short book about a 13 year old boy na...

*sigh* The hype machine strikes again. I don't know what it was this time, but... nope. Judging by all the four and five star ratings from my friends on Goodreads, I was kind of expecting my mind to be blown. I was told I would need tissues. Instead, I reached the last page and just had a blank star...

Just a short review to express my thoughts.I heard about this book for some time, and I can say, I was very curious and wanted to read it. And lo and behold! my library had it!The book was absolutely stunning, the illustrations are dark, haunting but also very beautiful. Though they tend to give you...

"All you have to do is tell the truth" the monster said.......where do I start? I guess I'll start with the truth then. This book is brilliant. I had no idea this book was going to turn out like it did. I was certainly not expecting the turn it took, but this books is beautiful, poetic, haunting and...
